EMMY CURL:

THE DISCRETE CHARM OF PREFECTION BY RUI MIGUEL ABREU

With a guitar, computer, midi controller, loop and effect pedals and even a pair of microphones, Emmy Curl filled the beautiful Garcia de Resende Theater in Évora alone, on the second day of a festival that aims to focus on artistic production female.
Over the course of an hour, the Vila Real artist (who currently resides in Copenhagen) spread a very particular type of enchantment over the centuries-old walls of this noble Eborean space. Emmy sings in an almost angelic way, with total mastery of the tuning, but is not limited to letting her voice drop naturally. The management of two microphones processed with different effects allows you to almost create dialogues with yourself, offering to the sound that your vocal chords produce different nuances that only reinforce this enchanting power. It is very difficult, not to say impossible, not to surrender unconditionally to the small universes that she builds on each theme, sculpting harmonies through the loops that snatch us without asking for permission.
