— resonance · celebration · vibration —
Commissioned by Companhia Instável (PT) ЯΛ́ЯΛ is a stage creation inspired by collective celebrations in which rhythm, dance, and sound operate as engines of ecstasy and transformation.
Rooted in the interest about frequency, sound vibration, and altered states of consciousness, the piece is drown from the Entrudo of Galicia and Northern Portugal, the Rara and Vodou festivities of Haiti, and the Urso Macaco Louco of the Pernambuco Carnival, the piece creates a sonic and luminous space for five bodies moving through hypnagogic states, between wakefulness and trance.
Resonant landscapes emerge through the manipulation of sonic and luminous objects, 3D-designed from wind instruments associated with different cultural traditions, such as the koné, the sho mouth organ, and the Haitian vuvuzela.
ЯΛ́ЯΛ emphasizes the potential of liminal states through resonant soundscapes and luminous vibration, where the body appears as an agent of exaltation. Gesture, sound, and light articulate themselves as performative forces that evoke and stimulate psycho-sensory experiences, inviting the audience into a shared territory between celebration and vertigo — to kill the old in order to let the new enter.
